    Description

The Trade Card in Nineteenth-Century America by Robert Jay (1987, Hardcover)
An important work on trade cards written and published as Robert Jay's dissertation in 1987. Traces the evolution of the  trade card in the 19th century from the earliest cards in the 17th and 18th centuries in England and America.
Jay also aptly points out the trade card was the FIRST nationwide mass marketing program, (of which many well known firms today trace their business beginnings.)
112p, 175 cards illustrated, 98 in color. Strong notes and bibliography.
The TCCA bought out the last 420 books in 1994 and after they were all sold this book has become very scarce and hard to find.
Important for the beginning as well as serious collector.
