Louis XIV by Towle sugar tongs 1924 later mark sterling silver 3.875" long

Offered for sale by Caspar’s Place is
a set of sterling silver sugar tongs in “Louis XIV” introduced in 1924 by Towle.
The tongs are marked with “Towle;” “PAT. 1924;” and “STERLING.”
This mark indicates that the tongs are a newer piece.
Formed in 1882, Towle Manufacturing Company later became Towle Silversmiths, under which name high-end silver is still produced.  The mark of a large script "T" enclosing a lion was first adopted by Towle in 1890.  In 1990 Towle Silversmiths was acquired by the holding company Syratech, which also owned Wallace Silversmiths and the International Silver Co.  In 2006 Lifetime Brands purchased Syratech, thereby acquiring Towle Silversmiths as well as Wallace Silversmiths and International Silver Co.
The tongs are monogrammed with what appears to be “BPH.”
They are in good estate condition, although
with the patina of fine scratches to be expected with age and use.
The tongs’ price reflects its condition.
These tongs will make a lovely addition to any silver collection.
The tongs weighs approximately 0.63 troy ounces.  They are roughly 3.875" long and 0.375" wide.
