A very beautiful
Antique French Sterling Silver & Crystal Sugar Bowl
with lovely French silver-plated sugar tongs set. The sugar bowl (or
Bonbonnier
sweet serving bowl) has gorgeous hand-cut crystal body with sterling silver base. The crystal is thick and the cutting pattern is very unique, with classic star-cut bottom. It comes with silver-plated French antique sugar tongs to complete the look. This will be a welcome addition to your well-appointed tea table!
Hallmarked the
French Minerva No.1
mark on the base, which guarantees .950 purity of sterling silver, used in Paris since 1838. This is one of the most high quality silver standard, purer then .925 sterling silver. Maker's mark in diamond shape, but we could not find the reference. A trace of silver-plated mark on sugar tongs, but not clear enough to read.
Measurements & Condition
Sugar Bowl 4 1/4 inch (10.6 cm) tall x 4 1/8 inch (10.4 cm) diameter, weight 16.73 oz (744.3 grams).
Sugar Tongs 5.2 inch (13.3 cm) long
Very Good Estate Condition
with minor sign of light use. A few very tiny chips on the side of crystal - please refer the detail photos I added. Otherwise in excellent shape.
